Does your child have a fear of math? Does it seem he or she gives up on math problems without really giving them a try? Are you sometimes unsure how to help?
This after school club is designed to build a child's confidence in math by making math fun. Club members learn math by playing games and puzzles in a supportive environment. The games and puzzles are selected to both teach fundamental concepts and skills needed to succeed in math, and also to give children that sense of mastery - "I can do this!"
The club curriculum was developed in conjunction with School District 22, to make sure we are helping children master those areas they are most likely to struggle with in school. And the club includes one evening for parents to come and get suggestions on how to talk to, encourage, and help their children gain confidence and succeed in math.
We're very excited about this club. We hate the idea of any child or adult being limited in their choices by a fear of math. And we believe every child can learn math. If your child is struggling, we're offering this club to encourage a new, confident, fun way of interacting with math.
This program was made possible by the generous support of Telus.
